Types and raw materials of wigs

We have explained the common types of wigs before, in which the article mentioned the two concepts of artificial chemical fiber and real hair. Many people may not know these two things very well. Today, we will use this article to explain to you what are the common raw materials for making wigs.

First of all, the raw materials (materials) of wigs can be basically divided into two categories: artificial fiber and real hair. Wigs that can be seen on the market are basically processed and produced with these two raw materials.

  • Artificial chemical fiber

Man-made chemical fiber is the chemical fiber filament collectively referred to in the wig industry, which refers to the chemical fiber material synthesized by chemical "spinning" or "blowing" process, which is similar to the artificial hair of human hair and is a supplement to the raw materials of human hair. The more famous ones are kanekalon and toyokalon in Japan. PP material (also called P material, that is, polypropylene fiber yarn) was widely used in the early stage and the cheapest.

Synthetic chemical fiber silk mainly includes: normal temperature silk, high temperature silk, protein silk and other common categories; It can be subdivided into domestic silk, Japanese silk, Korean silk, etc. according to different places of origin. According to the different reflectivity, it can also be divided into ordinary silk and matte silk.

Normal temperature silk: Normal temperature silk is generally used as a filler in human hair products, which can effectively reduce the cost of human hair products. However, the disadvantages are obvious: easy to deform, difficult to care for, not resistant to high temperature, and flammable. However, there are also wigs made of pure normal temperature silk in the market, which were also popular in the early days because of its low price. However, the disadvantages of the products made of normal temperature silk are also obvious: poor fidelity and unfavorable care and preservation; They are basically disposable products, so they have been phased out in recent years.

High temperature filament: Compared with normal temperature filament, the high temperature resistance of high temperature filament is greatly improved, theoretically, it does not exceed 160℃, and it will not deform the high temperature filament (in practical application, the theoretical high temperature resistance temperature ranges from 100℃ to 160℃ depending on the manufacturing process of high temperature filament). Under the condition of controlled temperature, it can be scalded, easy to take care of and preserve, and the fidelity is greatly improved compared with normal temperature silk. Therefore, in recent years, many wig products on the market are made of high-temperature silk raw materials (materials), of course, the price is more expensive than normal-temperature silk.

Protein silk: With the development of wig industry, customers' requirements for products are getting higher and higher, and low-end products can't meet the needs of customers, so there is protein silk, a higher-quality raw material. Compared with normal temperature silk and high temperature silk, protein silk goes further in fidelity. So far, it is a raw material with the closest hand feel and fidelity to real hair, and it is often used in making high-grade wigs. So the price will be more expensive than the first two.

During the continuous development of synthetic chemical fiber, an upgraded product that is different from ordinary fiber is derived: flame-retardant fiber. The difference between flame-retardant fiber and ordinary chemical fiber is that ordinary chemical fiber is easy to burn, and it is lumpy after ignition, while flame-retardant fiber is not easy to burn, and it is the same as human hair after ignition, and it is powdery, which reduces the use risk. However, because of its high cost, it is not widely used.

  •  real hair

According to different regions, human hair can be mainly divided into: Chinese hair, Indian hair, Brazilian hair, Burmese hair, Vietnamese hair, Mongolian hair and so on. Because of its material, it can be scalded and dyed, and it is easy to store, but the output of human hair is limited, and the price of human hair products is a little more expensive.

The main difference between different regions lies in the hair quality and curvature. Chinese hair, Mongolian hair, Burmese hair and Vietnamese hair belong to Asian hair, with coarse and straight hair, among which Chinese hair is the best, Chinese hair feels smooth and costs the most. Brazilian hair and Indian hair are soft and slightly curvy, which are suitable for European and American hairstyles, and are mostly used for hair extension, among which Brazilian hair is the best.
